Type Threes are known as the Successful Achiever Performer

Yes, they get three descriptors to describe who they are because all three are important aspects of the type 3’s. They make terrific leaders and motivators.  They know how to see in you what you may not see in yourself and then they encourage you to go for it.  If you have a project that needs to get done, seek out a type 3 because they are doers. However, when they are unhealthy, they may lead out of fear. Fear that they won’t be seen as the most accomplished or successful. They tend to put people into categories of importance based on their title or their value.

Listen:

In this Art of Growth podcast, Joel Hubbard sits down with a panel of Enneagram 3’s to talk about the need for success and the other motivations that drive them.

In this edition of the Typology podcast, Ian Morgan Cron hangs out with Jonathan Merritt, one of America’s most prolific and trusted faith and culture writers to discuss the shadow side of being an Enneagram type 3.  They also uncover what it means to process the pain behind the mask and how to push past the lies we tell ourselves in order to move closer to self-acceptance.

Watch:

Dr. Tom LaHue discusses all the layers of Enneagram 3.  If you can get past that wrinkled curtain behind him, (as a type 1, I couldn’t but I hope you can. Ha!). I think you will like his calm easy going talking style.

Some have said that Tony Stark of Iron Man fame is likely a type 3.  Let’s see, he is a hero, a winner, and an international playboy.  I’m not sure, what do you think?  You can rent it on Amazon Prime now for $2.99 here.

Please, please read this book.  The Gift of Being Yourself, written by David Brenner is incredibly important for all of us who are trying to discover our true selves.  He exposes the false self that you may hide behind and calls you to discover the true self that emerges from your uniqueness in Christ.

Grow:

Type 3’s are very future-oriented.  In other words, most of their thoughts are around what is next or how to complete a project.  Constantly striving to get to the next thing.  They really struggle to be thankful and appreciate what they have just completed.  A growth path for the 3 is to be present.  Don’t see your relationships as putting a check in the box.  Instead, try to relish what is happening now, in the moment, today.  Just sit in it, be grateful and enjoy.  Your family will appreciate it.
