LEARN YOUR ENNEAGRAM TYPE:

Finding your core type of the Enneagram can be life-changing. It can open your eyes to see new things about yourself. It can give you permission to love yourself and others better. But keep in mind, knowing your type is an ongoing journey. It may not happen overnight. For some, it is immediate, for others, it may take longer. Don’t fret! Finding your core type is worth it. And then allowing this new information to grow you is even better. You are worth it!

Listen:

Podcaster Amy Wick interviews Beth McCord from Your Enneagram Coach where they discuss core motivations in-depth for each of the enneagram types.  Beth will break down each type into core desires, core fears, and core motivations.  This is the first of two podcasts.  This one covers types 1-4.

Here is part two of the two-part series with Amy Wick and Beth McCord where they jump right into the discussion of types 5-9.

This song is a fun listen! The more familiar you are with the nine types, the funnier this parody of the Queen song is.  Here is River Crossing’s version of Bohemian Rhapsody through the lens of the Enneagram.  Enjoy!

Frank James is an accountant by day and a vlogger by night.  He explains the Enneagram in a cute and quirky way in his Youtube video entitled: Intro to the Enneagram//What are the 9 Personality Types?

Read:

If you are asking questions about how the Myers-Briggs Personality Typing System overlays with the Enneagram, this book could be helpful. Although the format of The Enneagram Made Easy (written by Renee Baron and Elizabeth Wagele) looks like a comic book, it is a fun read and makes the Enneagram appear easy - hence the title. This book covers all the basics plus a bonus at the end that shows a graph of each Enneagram type and how it overlays with the Myers-Briggs types.

Grow:

This short course called Discovering You teaches all nine of the types.  You can take the course all at once or take your time.  You will learn about the core desires, core fears, and core motivations of each type along with a descriptive assessment of each.  It is another really great way to learn about all of the types as you try to ascertain which one fits you best.

Bonus:

Okay! I know you are dying to do it.  You want to take a test to find out your core type.  That is alright as long as you keep in mind that tests are only about 65-80% accurate.*  I recommend taking a test after you have learned about all nine types first.  That way it can help affirm or confirm the type you already feel best fits you.  Right now, I like this one from The Enneagram Institute because it is inexpensive ($12) and the results are ranked in order of highest to lowest plus you get a great overview of the three you ranked highest in.

*Be opened minded about your test results and don’t immediately take them at face value. Ideally, it is best to discuss the results with an Enneagram coach who can help you better understand what the results mean.
